Breath of Life

Breath of Life

This painting refers to when I was taken of the ventilator and took a breath for the first time. Directly after transplant, a machine had to breathe for me while I was recovering form the surgery. I can still remember that first breath, and it was amazing. In the painting I am wearing my hospital gown and a Medicaid bracelet. The butterfly represents life and freedom. Freedom from my sickness that kept me from being able to live my life.
